Specialists in Perinatal and Postpartum Mental Health Care
Maternal mental health disorders typically occur in what is called the perinatal period. This includes the prenatal period, or time that a woman is pregnant, and the postpartum period, which is the first year after the baby has been born. However, at Beyond Borders CBT, we support Moms beyond the first year as well.
Our patients are served by licensed therapists, who are also Mothers, all of whom struggled with mental health issues in their perinatal or postpartum period. Not only can this Mom-to-Mom experience provide high quality evidence-based care, but also compassion and the shared experience of this difficult chapter in life.
Treatment is offered as a teletherapy service, meaning that real-time sessions are conducted on secure video/audio teleconferencing software.

Melissa has lived experience with OCD prior to the birth of her daughter. Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (skin picking and hair pulling) and OCD run in her family and she began experiencing these in her college years.Motherhood brought new challenges of balancing professional and home life, as well as the whispered question "what if the OCD returns?" She weathered the many sleepless nights of a baby with colic and is now the proud mom of a ukulele playing little girl. These experiences left her with a new-found respect for her own self-care and a commitment to living in accordance to her values. Melissa believes in the importance of working with you to help break the patterns of anxiety (OCD, BFRBs and panic attacks) that keep you stuck and missing out on some of life's most important moments.
